Touring with Purpose: The Inside Look At Companies Who Care was born out of the generosity of the many purpose-driven leaders who invited me to reach out and visit. It occurred to me that I should just do it. Throughout the month of June, I visited 20+ companies with great work place cultures in the following 9 cities: Boston, MA; Wallingford, CT; Union, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; and Chicago, IL. I had the opportunity to meet with founders and team members, learn their stories, and discover, what specifically about these work environments— makes them great. The purpose of this trip was to learn and to share these discoveries with you (and to have some fun doing it along the way).
I studied Organizational Psychology at the University of Michigan, where I discovered the power that positive organizations had on the success of their employees and bottom lines. From there, I was lucky enough to spend my Venture for America fellowship with The Small Giants Community - where I learned what it means to be a purpose-driven leader and how these companies create amazing places to work. When my fellowship ended in May, I thought there was no better way to spend the month of June than traveling to companies with great workplace cultures and sharing their philosophy with the world. Today, I continue to visit companies and teach how to improve team member experience.
